چکیده مقاله:

Every author portrays the ‘society’ and the ‘time’ he lives in. William Faulkner and Abbas Maroufi in this sense have some reasons behind writing The Sound and the Fury and Symphony of the Dead. Actual historical events lead the characters and plots of these stories. Also, analogous characters are representative of each part of the society. These novels are two masterpieces that share many similar elements with each other. Even though these works of literature do not entirely resemble each other, the portrayal of changes in society and the effects on people's lives and families is worth discussing. The themes and the characterizations, events and literary techniques used by Abbas Maroufi and William Faulkner are very close. Generally, comparing two works of literature and analyzing their common grounds improves the knowledge of the reader as well as helping him to understand each work better.
