Quickly locating a fault in micro-networks isessential for reliable power delivery. In this respect, to locatea fault, in a DC source line, auxiliary capacitors are fixed aftercircuit breakers to maintain power for the faulty circuit togenerate strong signal for fault locating unit. The method is aone-ended one where the fluctuation in the line current isapplied to a black box neural network (NN). The performanceof the network is enhanced where intelligent traineralgorithms are employed. In this respect, several methodsamong them the classical Levenberg–Marquardt (LM) andintelligent African vultures Optimization Algorithm (AVOA)are utilized. The results indicate that AVOA delivers superiorperformance regarding the others. Comparing the findingwith several already published ones shows that the proposedmethod is promising.
