چکیده مقاله:

Background: Cervical cancer is one of the common types ofcancer worldwide, with over ۶۰۴,۰۰۰ women affected by itand resulting in death in ۳۴۲,۰۰۰ cases, according to the WorldHealth Organization's reports in ۲۰۲۲. The main cause of cervicalcancer is human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Althoughextensive studies and related articles have shown that the expressionof many genes are involved in the pathogenesis of thiscancer, there is little information about changes in MED۱ geneexpression. The purpose of this study is to investigate changesin MED۱ gene expression in cervical cancer and introduce it asa diagnostic and predictive biomarker.Materials and Methods: In order to investigate the changesin MED۱ gene expression in cervical cancer, data from TCGApresented by the ONCODB database was used. Furthermore, based on clinical data from TCGA, the correlation between theexpression of this gene and the rate of patient mortality andclinical features was evaluated. Results: The results of the study showed that the level ofMED۱ gene expression changes significantly increased in canceroussamples compared to normal samples (log FC = ۱.۷۳,FDR <۰.۰۱). Additionally, the results showed a significant increasein the expression level of TNM.T۴ compared to T۱, T۲.Furthermore, the Kaplan-Meier curve indicated that an increasein MED۱ gene expression was associated with poor patientprognosis. (logRank = ۰.۴۳).Conclusion: The results of the study showed that the level ofMED۱ gene expression increases in cervical cancer and is associatedwith poor patient prognosis. It was also shown that theexpression level of this gene could be considered as a diagnosticand predictive biomarker for cervical cancer.
