A wireless sensor network is actually an aggregation of a large number of sensor nodes with small dimensions and usually cheap prices and limitations in processing power, memory capacity and power supply. These nodes are usually placed in harsh, harsh and inaccessible environments and conditions. They are often randomly dispersed in the environment. The task of sensor nodes is to collect and transmit information from an environment by neighboring nodes to the central station, it is usually not possible to recharge or replace dead nodes, so one of the most important challenges of sensor networks is the limited energy of nodes. Management and optimization of energy consumption in wireless sensor networks have been the focus of attention of many researchers and large research centers in recent years, and so far various solutions have been presented to reduce power consumption in wireless sensor networks. In this article, with the aim of optimal energy consumption in each of the nodes of wireless sensor networks, which leads to increasing the lifetime of the network and receiving more accurate information from the environment, it has been investigated and compared the methods of reducing energy consumption in wireless sensor networks. In order to achieve this, some of the most up-to-date and optimal methods have been selected and their performance results have been examined and compared.
