چکیده مقاله:
Cellulose is the most abundant natural polymer which is produced by plants. In this article cotton waste fiber (linter) was used to extract cellulose portion. Waste cotton was cured using 20 g/L sodium hydroxide aqueous solution for 2 hours at 130 oC. Then, the cured waste was treated with environmental friendly hydrogen peroxide bleaching (3%) at85 oC for 90 minutes. In order to reduce the production time of carboxymethyl cellulose, microwave energy (490 W) was used. Extracted cellulose and carboxymethyl cellulose were characterized using FT-IR spectroscopy. Results show that recycled cellulose has high purity (98.11%) and its degree of polymerization was around 4947. Also microwave energy dropped etherification reaction time from 2-3 hours to 12 minutes
